Israel Arbeiter traveled to Poland in the spring nearly two years ago, he thought it would be his last trip to Plock, the city of his birth, and to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where, as a teen, he was imprisoned by the Nazis. At that series of camps, with its crematoria and gas chambers, more than 1 million people were killed, most of them Jews.
